Important Safety Tips Everyone Should Know

- There are creeps who uses internet to take advantage of kids, teens especially girls. So for that never disclose your emails, passwords, phone numbers, address or very personal information to others whom you don't know or the person you think is not trusted.
- Be careful while sending your own photo to others
- Never share your password with other people you don't trust (except your parents or very closed one)
- Use strong password. Use alphanumeric characters with uppercase and lowercase and special characters in your password. The length of password should be as long as possible (More than 8 characters). Do not use dictionary words as password. Make sure your each account has different password. Do not write it anywhere or do not tell it to others.
- Change your password often! Make an habit to change your password of your each account in every certain time. Many people do not change their password for a longer duration. This is also a main cause to hack your password and interrupt in your account and do some bad activities.
- Don't believe everything you read or see online. There are lots of websites, blogs, groups, communities, emails which contains misleading and untrue information.
- Never give your bank account details to other. There are lots of groups who always throw an email or information regarding financial help for various reasons or send an email saying that you won a lottery or prize. They will ask you your bank account details or ask you to send some amount to them. This kind of information are always fake. Sometimes it has a virus like activity. Simply ignore these kind of requests or emails. Do not respond them at all. Inform your bank to prevent any financial theft.
- Never arrange personal meetings with strangers. Just because you have seen a picture or read his/her profile or read his/her scraps or messages, doesn't meen you know them very well. Many people lie online about their personal information. (Orkut has more than 40% fake accounts). If someone seems nice online, doesn't mean they really are. Talk to your parents or closed one whom you trust.
- Do not send/respond to obscene/pornographic text, images, SMS, MMS, email, scrap, message. Sending any obscene/pornographic thing is an offence under Information Technology act-2000. Punishment is 5 yrs imprisonment and 1 Lakh Rupee fine. Delete obscene/pronographic contents if you received and inform it to your nearest police station and cyber cell. - Turn off Bluetooth. Do not keep your Bluetooth open to all, you may receive obscene/phornographic text, images and viruses.
- Avoid sharing your phone numbers. Do not give your phone/mobile numbers while chatting on internet to avoid "STALKING".
- Install Firewall to prevent hackers from stealing your personal information from your computer/mobile
- Do not run any script Never run any script while logged into any account, whatever it claims to do. Most of the time hackers suggest to run javascript into your browser's address bar. Never do that. That script may hack your password and inturrept into your account.
